Over the Easter weekend the Hire Express Mitsubishi Evo X team headed to Mt Panorama for the Bathurst 6-Hour, Australia biggest race for Production Cars.
Once an amateur event, the race now attracts many pro and celebrity drivers including Dick Johnston Racing drivers, Will Davidson and Anton de Pasquale, Tickford Racing's, Thomas Randle, Marcus Ambrose, Grant Denyer, Tony Quinn and so on.
Entered in Class A1 (forced induction) the car had been completely rebuilt by DashSport specifically for the event. The Driver Line-Up was headed up by Michael King – twice NSW Improved Production Champion and NSW Production Touring Champion (Class A1), Stephen Thompson – multiple podiums in Production Touring and Sports Sedan and Ed Kreamer – NSW Sports Sedan Class Champion and Targa High Country Class winner. In the garage was Darren Williams (Team Manager), Jackson Copeland, Josh Williams, Mitch Hore, Josh Love, Rob Fowler and Kevin Condon.
Michael King qualified the car in P29 from a field of 60 cars and started the race. An incident in the early laps forced an unscheduled pitstop to replace a damaged rim and tyre. A drive through penalty was also issued near the halfway point of the race for a pitlane speeding infringement.
There were numerous safety car periods throughout the race as the relentless "sprint racing" pace continued throughout the event.
The car performed flawlessly to finish P4 in class and 18th overall.
